Project A2 – Aiding AIDS
Project A2 – Aiding AIDS is a project sponsored by the InterviewGirl Foundation that is raising money targeted at ensuring that citizens suffering from HIV in Africa will be treated. It is estimated that 28.5 million people are infected with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa, and 11 million African children are thought to have been orphaned by AIDS. At the end of 2001, it was estimated that only 30,000 of the 28.5 million people living with HIV / AIDS in Africa had access to antiretroviral drugs. (Statistic taken from Learning from HIV and AIDS, George Ellison, Melissa Parker, and Catherine Campbell).
What can we do to change some of these heartbreaking statistics? You can begin by sharing a story and from your doing so, you’ll be helping to eliminate the misery that someone experiences.
Project Aiding AIDS is working to providing medication to all those who are victims of HIV. By providing medication to those suffering with HIV, we want to restore hope to those suffering with AIDS. AIDS is seen as a fatal disease. Getting people suffering from AIDS treatment is so important because if they have their health, they can go about living their lives. After treatment, the person who once was someone suffering from a fatal disease is now an individual who can become an entrepreneur and/or person who serves in a service position in his/her community. Their work can allow him/her to sustain himself/herself. The sense of pride that the person has spreads throughout the community. By the InterviewGirl Foundation providing medication, a ripple effect is in place from there. What can we do to change some of these heartbreaking statistics?
